I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted here on the blog. But on a whim, I decided to hand the camera to my photographer (aka: my wonderful husband) and have him take some shots. This is a real outfit that I wore for a family day out to the park & library, followed by a picnic in our backyard and then more time spent playing outside with the kids. In fact, while these photos were being snapped, my kids were running around, laughing, and we were all enjoying ourselves. It was a fun, happy, and authentic moment. Nothing created or forced. And it felt good. Very good.
I can tell already that these lightweight plaid shirts with a high-low hem are going to be my go-to shirt this fall. I’ve purchased two so far (this one at H&M and one at Francescas), and I found a beautiful pale blue & white one in a thrift store that I’ll be wearing soon with white skinny jeans & sandals. I look forward to wearing these tops often as the weather cools off this Fall. But I’m not rushing the fleeting days of summer that remain. In fact, quite the opposite. I plan to squeeze every ounce of enjoyment out of the remainder of summer. I will be intentional about creating time to feel the rays of sunshine on my face, to chase my son around the yard as he squeals with laughter, and to push my daughter on the swing for a ridiculous amount of time, simply because that makes her happy. Because all too soon, summer will be over. And all too soon, my daughter will outgrow the desire to do everything with mommy. These are the days. And I don’t want to miss them.
Enjoy the following ‘outtake’ photo with a glimpse of my son photo-bombing the picture while I look on in amusement. I thought I’d share this real life glimpse into the fun chaos that happens around here:
